Jill Cooper

Jill is an experienced microbiologist with over three decades of experience across research, laboratory leadership, and the water treatment industry. She holds a BSc (Hons) in Microbiology from Aberystwyth University and began her career with two years of research at Aston University, focusing on Pseudomonas aeruginosa hospital-acquired infections followed by clinical trials for new blood pressure medications. Jill went on to spend 12 years at Applied Chemicals, where she ran the microbiology laboratory, developed new disinfectants, conducted testing across a wide range of industrial samples, and successfully achieved UKAS accreditation. After further experience at STL Labs (now ALS) supporting water treatment clients, Jill joined B & V Water Treatment, where she has spent the last 20 years progressing from site-based testing to heading up B & V Chemicals. She has also played a key role on the committees responsible for producing BSRIA BG29 and BG50 guidance.
