BSRIA - Pre-Commission Cleaning of Pipework Systems

Thorough pre-commission cleaning of pipework has become even more important with the adoption of energy efficient controls strategies that may result in low flow rates, particularly in terminal units with very small orifices in control valves.

The course will provide a better understanding of the issues and procedures involved with pre-commission cleaning and is aimed at those either involved in pre-commission cleaning or overseeing the process.

It will cover the main principles of pre-commission cleaning, as set out in BSRIA Guide Pre-Commission Cleaning of Pipework Systems and combine lectures, practical demonstrations and worked examples. The aim is for pre-commission cleaning to be achieved through a process of flushing and chemical cleaning (where required) followed by the addition of biocides and inhibitors. Systems designed and cleaned in accordance with BSRIA's guidance are far less likely to experience operating problems.

BSRIA - Introduction to Construction Projects

Construction projects can be complex, and each one is unique. For people who are new to the industry, it can be quite difficult to understand some of the terms and processes used in the management of projects.

This course aims to introduce attendees to how construction projects work, from design through to construction, following standard UK practices. It is taught in 4 broad themes: Projects and their teams; Managing design; Contracts and change; Managing information and handover.

BSRIA - Water Services ? an Introduction

Safe and readily available water is important for public health, whether it is used for drinking, domestic use, food production or recreational purposes.

This course has been created to give delegates an overview of the types of systems encountered in a range of buildings including hospitals and industrial installations.

The types of water services and the importance of comfort, safety, compliance and the use of data are all covered. So too are the legal requirements and regulations, as well as the things that can go wrong.

ICORR - MIC Awareness

Institute of Corrosion, Microbiologically Influenced Corrosion Awareness Training course.

An excellent advanced level course for microbially influenced corrosion (MIC).  The course is not specific to the water treatment industry but covers general transferable topics such as:

  • MIC organisms
    • Sulphate reducing organisms,
    • Archea,
    • Acid producing bacteria
    • Iron oxidising bacteria
    • Iron reducing bacteria
    • Denitrifying bacteria
    • Methogens
    • Sulphur oxidising bacteria
  • Costs from MIC related damage
