WHO FOR:

This course is intended to give an overview of the alternatives available when control of legionella in hot and cold water systems used for ‘domestic’ purposes cannot be achieved by thermal means.   Expected participants will include owners, operators, service providers and legionella risk assessors of hot and cold systems.

Information on temperature control (the preferred control option) is not included in this module as it is covered fully in other WMS courses.   

OBJECTIVES:

To ensure delegates:

  • Gain an overview of options available when thermal control cannot be used, or is not completely effective
  • Understand the significance of relevant legislation and guidance
  • Understand the chemical options that are offered and how these are controlled
  • Recognise the physical control options, their advantages and limitations
  • Are introduced to some of the pre-treatment plant available to improve the quality of water used in these systems
  • Gain a sound foundation for further study
