The Building Safety Act 2022 established HSE as the Building Safety Regulator (BSR) in England, with responsibilities for overseeing building safety standards and managing higher-risk buildings (HRBs) throughout their lifecycle.

This one-day course provides an overview of managing ageing risks in HRBs, covering the role of leadership, BSR responsibilities, risk assessment, and the safety case approach to prevent deterioration and structural failures.

Delegates will be provided with information that will help them to:

  • understand the role of leadership, risk assessment and the safety case approach in managing risk
  • know the responsibilities of the BSR and named persons such as Principal Accountable Person
  • consider building safety risks related to major hazards that impact building integrity as they age, including fire safety and structural deterioration
