WHO FOR:
Those requiring introductory knowledge on the main aspects of legionella and Legionnaires’ disease.  It will fulfill the needs of anybody who has been told they require Legionella Awareness training. 
It is essential for dutyholders, responsible persons and those who are responsible for, use or operate, any water system that is capable of growing and emitting legionella bacteria. Delegates will most likely be senior management, office managers, supervisory staff, site engineers, facilities managers and plant operators.
 
OBJECTIVES:
To give detailed legionella training to owners and operators of systems in order to meet the demands of health and safety regulations and the risk assessor. 
 
TOPICS COVERED:
  • Background, history, microbiology and legislation relating to legionella and Legionnaires’ disease.
  • Managing risk and how to comply with health and safety regulations, including updates to ACoP L8 and technical guidance HSG274.
  • Compliance requirements: risk assessment and competence, written scheme and management and control.
  • Specific controls in: domestic hot and cold water systems in the workplace, cooling towers and other systems.
 
ASSESSMENT:
60 minute written exam.
