Cooling tower design and operation
A description of different types of cooling water systems and cooling towers including principles of operation and design improvements to reduce the risk of legionellosis. The basic requirements of a well-designed cooling water system will also be covered.

Evaporative cooling equipment and the written scheme
This is a basic course in which an overview of LD and relevant legislation in relation to cooling water systems are presented. Current legal requirements and HSE expectations for control and management are discussed, together with strategies for risk prevention.The principles of water treatment in relation to Legionella control are also considered. The requirements of the Written Scheme and the importance of management, control and record keeping are covered.

Delegates will be people concerned with owning, operating, managing, treating and maintaining cooling tower systems particularly those with responsibilities for safe operation; Environmental Health Officers and consultants. The course links statutory responsibilities with the practical aspects of ensuring safe operation in accordance with current regulatory requirements.
